“Whether you live for three thousand years or ten thousand, remember that you can only part with the present moment of life. The longest and shortest lives are the same in this respect. The present is all anyone has, and once it’s gone, it’s only a moment you part with. All things in the world perpetually revolve and renew, so seeing the same things for any length of time doesn’t matter much. The life you part with, whether long or short, is the same in duration because it’s only the present you lose.”
~ Marcus Aurelius
Each moment we pass through leaves us as we journey into the next. The past is forever frozen in the backdrop of time, no longer bearing reality upon us.
We are constantly at the epicenter of the proverbial pebble making contact with the pond. At its point of entry, ripples begin waving across the water in nature’s perfect motion.
Do not be too transfixed upon mistakes of the past, or visions of the future. This will only cause regret, fear and the disease of worry. Make the best possible choice with each moment in which you have, for it is all any of us ever truly have.
Do not fear death, for what is death but a simple passing from one moment into another which is unknown?
Live present. Live now. Embrace the goodness all around. The more we are engaged with all wondrous qualities of spirit we have access to now, the more we live a life that is full, rich and contributive towards a brighter future for others, as they too walk through each momentous experience of life.
